The CPP20212 Certificate 2 in Security Operations is the minimum requirement needed to apply for an Unarmed Queensland Security Licence. The certificate also allows graduates to apply for an Unarmed Queensland Security Licence with Crowd Control. The course also includes First Aid, CPR, and crowd control units.

 

The Certificate II in Security Operations is offered by Success Training Academy in conjunction with the APS Training Group (RTO #31588) in Cairns, Clontarf in North Brisbane, Southport on the Gold Coast, and Woolloongabba Brisbane.

What to expect from the course

The whole course will gain for the student considerable knowledge and practical skills that is a requirement to work as a security officer in places such as building sites, events, hotels, hospitals, shopping centres, nightclubs, and more. Practical skills are gained through a combination of theory and defence restraints and techniques, class role plays, and practical training.

 

Entry Requirements

Certificate 2 in Security Operations carries no prerequisites. However, it is recommended that students have at least a grade 10 level understanding of English, including reading and writing. This course is to qualify graduates for a Queensland Security Licence, so after obtaining the Certificate II at STA, participants must also meet the following criteria:

  • Must be 18 years of age at the time of applying for a security licence.
  • Must have primary English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills. (Before enrolment in the course, all participants must complete an LLN Assessment).
  • All participants must undergo a complete criminal history background check.
  • Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or at least hold the appropriate Visa to work within the security industry in Queensland.

(For international students, this course is not CRICOS registered, so STA cannot accept international students who are on a student visa.)

 

Blended with Face to Face Environment

Certificate 2 in Security Operations course consists of both distance components and face to face workshops. The distance component is composed of theory work and is required to be finished from home before the face to face component. The practical component consists of 5 class days.

 

For the five face to face class days, the participant will need to complete practical training, including defence techniques, case scenarios, group activities, and role-playing. Participants will learn to perform the responsibilities of a security officer in a lawful, ethical, and effective manner.

 

This CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations is only offered in Queensland to obtain a Queensland Security Licence.
