TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

This 5-day Face to Face Accelerated Program course requires participants to complete self-paced pre and post-course work.

During the TAE40122 Cert IV Training and Assessment classroom (Face to Face) days, you will complete a variety of assessment activities, and group tasks. You will also complete some tasks that require a VET Trainer/Teacher to act as a lead validator - we include this in our Face to Face delivery method, so that participants aren't required to find their own trainer in order to complete these activities.

The Cert IV Training and Assessment 5-day course workshop gives you the skills and knowledge required to complete the remainder of the Cert IV TAE assessment tasks from home.  All participants will also have access to pre-recorded instructional webinars and pre-recorded tutorials.

What do participants need to provide?
The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment training package requires participants to deliver presentations to an audience of 4 people, in a face to face setting. This must be done in-person with your audience, not online. Your audience can be friends, colleagues, family, or fellow-students. You will need to organise the below, as part of your post-workshop studies:

• 4 people to deliver 3 x 30min face-to-face presentation sessions to (cannot include the 1 person from the one-on-one) – these participants must be over the age of 15 and the sessions must be recorded or observed by a qualified VET Trainer or Assessor.

NO work placement required – while other providers may require you to source an RTO for work placement to finalise your assessments, our courses have been specifically designed to eliminate the need for this.

The 5-day Live Virtual course runs similarly to the Face to Face Workshop, but it’s delivered in an online environment via Zoom. The course requires participants to complete self-paced pre and post-course work.

The Certificate IV TAE 3-Day Essentials Program, gives the participants the flexibility to complete most components of the course from home at their own pace, but with the additional inclusion of a 3-day virtual Assessment & Validation Workshop, to cover some of the assessment tasks that need a qualified VET Trainer in order to lead the assessment tasks, or need to be recorded. Your 3-day Assessment & Validation Workshop date is booked separately to your overall course, and can be booked in as soon as you have enrolled and paid for your TAE40122 course, or at any time throughout your studies (regardless of whether you have commenced or completed any of your course work).

All Distance Learning Certificate IV TAE40122 participants are supported by pre-recorded lectures and pre-recorded instructional webinars, giving the participants the flexibility to work on their assessments at a time that suits their needs. Participants have up to 18 months to successfully complete their assessments from home.

All Distance Learning Certificate IV TAE40122 participants are supported by pre-recorded lectures and pre-recorded instructional webinars, giving the participants the flexibility to work on their assessments at a time that suits their needs. Participants have up to 18 months to successfully complete their assessments from home.

Resources Required
Please note, the following requirements will be the same, regardless of the training provider that you enrol with. When researching the TAE40122, make sure you read the fine print or ask for information specifically about the assessment requirements, that apply to the TAEASS412 and TAEASS413 core units of competency.

To meet the requirements to complete the TAE40122 via a 100% distance learning delivery method, participants must have access to/source the following themselves (not provided by RAM Training Services, for the Distance Learning delivery method).

• Access to an experienced and qualified VET Trainer or Assessor to act as the lead validator on 9 validation activities.
• Access to an additional participant to act as an additional trainer and to participate in the 9 validation activities.
• Access to a qualified VET Trainer or assessor to witness you completing 6 assess competency tasks.

If you do not have access to an experienced qualified VET Trainer or Assessor, the 3-Day Essentials Program or the 5-Day Accelerated Program will be a better delivery method for you, both of those delivery methods include workshop components to cover these requirements.

The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) provides a guide to the volume of learning, which describes how long a student who does not hold any of the competencies identified in the relevant units of competency or modules would take to develop all the required skills and knowledge. Based on this, the guide suggests that a (full) Certificate 4 level qualification should take between 600 and 1200 hours.

In our experience, every person is different, and so the time it takes one person to complete is different to the next person. This largely depends on each person’s experience, dedication to their studies, and their other personal commitments. A shorter timeframe may be possible if, for example, the student has a teaching or training background, already holding the required skills and knowledge.

Students will have up to 18 months to complete the TAE40122 course with Success, however a good portion of our students finish within 6 – 8 months. Naturally, this depends on each individual’s personal circumstances, experience and commitment to completing assessment tasks.

Our suggested Volume of Learning for this qualification is 6 months – 18 months (600 – 1800 hours).

To complete the TAE40122 Cert IV in Training & Assessment, tools you’ll need include access to the internet, a computer/laptop/tablet with Microsoft Office, a printer, and a video recording device as simple as an iPhone/smart phone.

The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment has a substantial amount of changes in the unit of competency requirements compared to the previous TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, meaning depending on the delivery method an individual has chosen will determine the resource requirements.

4. Distance learning

Please note, the following requirements will be the same, regardless of the training provider that you enrol with. When doing your research, make sure that you read the fine print or ask specifically for information on the below requirements, that apply to the TAEASS412 and TAEASS413 core units of competency.

To meet the requirements to complete the TAE40122 via 100% distance learning, participants must have access to/source the following themselves (not provided by RAM Training services, for the TAE40122 Distance Learning course).

To ensure you're set up for success, the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment includes a comprehensive set of learning materials and existing support materials. These range from pre-recorded lectures and tutorials to assessment guides and reference tools. These resources are designed to complement your proposed training and give you the confidence to complete all practical tasks, whether you're learning in person or online.

To deliver the best outcomes for students enrolled in our Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course in Gold Coast, Brisbane and Cairns, the average class size is 8 to 10, with all public classes capped at 12.

While we are confident that our students will be able to submit within the 18 month timeframe, and we provide extensive support to assist with this, there are occasions where our student’s personal circumstances may unavoidably cause delays for them. Due to regular updates to our assessment materials, as well as to training packages in general, if we are able to offer an extension, we are only able to extend due dates by 1 month at a time, should you need it. Please note, there is no guarantee that we will be able to offer an extension, but we are more than happy to do so where possible.

There is no fee charged for the first extension given. Any further extensions requested, will incur a re-enrolment fee of between $395 and $595, dependent on whether a complete new set of course materials is required. In some cases, this may mean you will need to re-do parts, or all, of your assessment tasks using the new materials.

We will check in with you regularly, once you have commenced, to make sure you’re progressing. And don’t forget to join (free) as many of our Live Q&A Webinars as you like – these are a great help to many of our students!

To qualify for the TAE40122 course, you must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed teaching and assessing area. This is defined as having broad industry knowledge and experience, such as holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. For example, to teach ‘health and safety’ qualifications you must be able to show your existing skills and prior learning in that field. This may include a health and safety qualification to at least the level you wish to teach and several years of relevant industry experience.

There are no formal minimum education requirements, however, you will need sound written and verbal communication skills to complete the assessment tasks and engage in learning at a Certificate IV level.

Due to the TAE40116 version of this qualification being superseded by the TAE40122, all students enrolled in the TAE40116 must be completed by 1 Nov 2024. To ensure students have enough time to complete their studies by this deadline, we are no longer accepting enrolments into the TAE40116 full course. If, however, you already hold some units from the TAE40116 and wish to apply for Credit Transfer for these units to go towards obtaining the full qualification, please get in touch.

While we don’t believe it will be necessary to do so (the 2 qualifications are equivalent, and as long as the Standards don’t change, there is no requirement to do so), it will be possible to upgrade. Depending on what units you have completed previously, this would require gap training on 7-8 units, credit transfer for 1-4 units, and completion of 1-3 new units.
