Requirements for the Certificate III in Security Operations

Finding employment these days often means choosing a career path that offers chances for more than just entry-level work. The security industry is one such sector, where security personnel can progress further to supervisory or managerial positions through dedication and proper training.

One of the training courses that qualify security personnel for greater responsibilities is the Certificate III in Security Operations, which is offered under the course code CPP30411. The CPP30411 training course is accessible through Registered Training Organisations or RTOs, which can be found all over the state. This course is also one of the requirements for the Unarmed and Crowd Control Security Licence in Queensland.

Before enrolling in the CPP30411, consider first where one intends on gaining employment. The CPP30411 course as delivered in the state of Queensland adheres to the requirements of the state, and so is only applicable to the QLD state.

If one intends to work in another state, please check with the relevant state’s or territory’s licensing and regulatory authorities.

There are other requirements for the Unarmed and Crowd Control Security Licence, as well. One must first be at least eighteen years old at the time of their licence application. They must also be Australian citizens, or permanent residents of Australia, or living in Australia on a valid visa that permits working hours.

Because of the amount of reading involved in the training course, the licence applicant must also have at least Grade 10 Level language, literacy, and numbers (LLN) comprehension. This is not intended to discriminate against applicants who have not undergone formal education; this is because there is an LLN assessment test involved before application.

All learning material provided in the CPP 30411 training course has been formulated accordingly to match the Grade 10 standard as well, to match the requirements of the Unarmed and Crowd Control Security Licence.

Another licence requirement is a criminal background check. This requirement aims to establish that the person applying for the Unarmed and Crowd Control Security Licence is of sound character. This also does not intend to discriminate; applicants with discovered criminal backgrounds will be assessed individually.

For international students, there are specific qualifications that must be met first before they can apply for the Unarmed and Crowd Control Security Licence in Queensland. One of these requirements is that they have been trained in the CPP30411 course through a CRICOS-registered RTO.

It is crucial that students check their selected RTO’s accreditation, as only CRICOS-registered RTOs are allowed to deliver the CPP30411 training to international students who are in Australia on a student visa. RTOs that are not accredited with the CRICOS are not allowed to provide the course training, and a non-accredited RTO insisting on delivering the course will be subject to fines or revocation of registration.
