The Vocational Education and Training or VET sector is one of the fastest-growing industries in Australia. The VET sector is responsible for the training and education of youths and adults who are seeking career options outside of academic possibilities.
What is the TAE40116?
The TAE40116, also known as the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, is the most current training and certification available for persons who intend to perform duties in the VET sector as trainers or assessors.
As of April 1st, 2019, the TAE40116 is the mandatory training and certification course for trainers and assessors in the Queensland State. All active trainers and assessors who were certified under the TAE40110 training course are now obligated to upgrade their training to the TAE40116 no later than June 2019.
For trainers and assessors who are working with the TAA40104 or BSZ40198 Qualifications, they will be required to take the full TAE40116 training course to be able to continue performing trainer or assessor duties. This is because the TAA40104 and BSZ40198 do not have the same level of comprehensive competencies included in the TAE40116 training.
How long will it take to complete the course training?
The full TAE40116 course can take up to twelve months depending on the course student’s speed and level of commitment. That being said, the ideal completion period for the TAE40116 is no longer than six months from start to finish. Students may also finish the course earlier than the six months, where possible. The completion of the course training depends on the student’s circumstances, commitments, and experience.
Generally speaking, the course should be completed by the course student within the allotted time and with all of the required coursework already done. This is to ensure a smooth assessment of the student’s capacities as displayed by their coursework.
What resources are needed for the course?
Because the delivery of the courses involves emails and other kinds of online correspondence, it’s crucial that the student enrolling in a TAE40116 class has their laptop or desktop computer, or at least has easy access to such devices. They must also have access to a stable internet connection, primarily because the course student will need to download course assignments and upload their completed coursework for assessment purposes.
To be clear, the course student isn’t explicitly required to own their devices, so long as they have access to a computer and the internet. Making use of equipment readily available in public libraries is acceptable for completing the course.
What is the average class size?
The average class size for the TAE40116 course is around eight to ten students, though some classes may have up to twelve students depending on the demand for the course. Responsible RTOs make sure that every course trainer can give each student in their class the focus and attention that each student needs, which is why it’s optimal for TAE40116 classes to be small. Large TAE40116 class sizes don’t necessarily mean inadequate quality training, to be fair, but prospective students should be wary and be discerning towards RTOs that are advertising large class sizes for the TAE40116 course.
