The TAE40116 is the designated formal training for VET-related skill sets; it’s also taught in TAFEs and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) all over the different states. What are the details the TAE40116 training that a prospective student should know?
Course Duration
How long does the TAE40116 course last? The course training, ideally, should be completed in six months from start to end. However, some events can take time from the completion of the course, such as unforeseen circumstances and emergencies. Given this, most RTOs give a leeway of twelve months from the start of the TAE40116 course for a student to complete their course work.
Resources and Requirements
The course has tasks that require specific equipment. One such requirement is having access to a working desktop or laptop computer and stable internet. As part of the training will be delivered through digital correspondence, it’s necessary that the student has access to the mentioned requirements to help facilitate their learning.
To be clear, it’s not necessary that the student owns a laptop or desktop computer, or that they have an internet connection billed to their name. So long as they have lawful access to these requirements, they may enrol and train in the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Class Size and Density
The average class size for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is roughly eight to ten students. For some RTOs, public classes may reach up to twelve students; privately scheduled or booked classes are further restricted to fewer students.
Due to the comprehensive nature of the training course material, it’s recommended for RTOs to limit class sizes to no more than twelve to fifteen students, as this allows trainers to provide adequate coverage for each student. If an RTO is offering Certificate IV training for large classes, it is advised to further inquire as to the viability of the higher class density.
TAE40116: Is this the most updated version?
Yes, the TAE40116 is the most updated course version for the Certificate IV. The TAE40116 supersedes the TAE40110 for the training, as the former offers a more comprehensive and structured course compared to the latter.
For this reason, TAE40110-certified trainers and assessors are obliged to comply with the TAE40116 training to continue working in the VET sector. The deadline for the new training for current TAE40110 certificate holders was moved from April 1st, 2019 to July 1st, 2019 to provide more time for trainers and assessors to comply.
