For those looking to work in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector have several options when it comes to the training they wish to take. The ideal training, though, is the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, also known as the TAE40116.
What is the TAE40116?
The TAE40116 is the course code for the more comprehensive training that now supersedes the TAE40110 version of the Certificate IV. Because the TAE40116 is more structured and contains units that the TAE40110 does not, it’s strongly advised for TAE40110 certificate holders to upgrade to the newer course training for the Certificate IV.
Below are common questions asked regarding the TAE40116.
Where do I sign up for the TAE40116 Training?
To wit, the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is the current training for Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector professionals. Because it’s a standardised sector, persons interested in working in the industry must have the necessary training. This training is under the TAE40116 course code.
The course, in turn, is readily available for enrolment through Registered Training Organisations, or RTOs. These RTOs are private organisations that provide training for a fee and can be found all over the Australian states. Generally speaking, RTOs are always available for enquiries regarding the availability of TAE40116 course classes.
How long is the training?
The training for the Certificate IV can take up to twelve months; however, it is strongly encouraged for course students to finish their coursework in six months or sooner. Most RTOs consider unforeseen circumstances in accounting for their training time, allowing for the six-month grace period to complete the training.
The training needs to be completed within the allotted twelve months to qualify for assessment. If not completed, the student may need to re-enrol and retake the TAE40116 training anew.
Are there requirements for the course?
There are requirements for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course. Because the course is partly delivered digitally through online correspondence between trainer and student, access to a laptop or desktop computer and stable internet access are needed.
To be clear, the student doesn’t need to own a laptop or desktop computer to be able to enrol and participate in the training; they only need to have access to this equipment, as well as a stable internet connection. Using work terminals at public libraries is perfectly acceptable.
Can I automatically upgrade to the TAE40116 if I’m a TAE40110 holder?
Unfortunately no. The TAE40110 course has been superseded, which means that its training material is no longer current. The TAE40116 is the ongoing standard training, containing units of course material that aren’t included in the TAE40110. For this reason, holders of the TAE40110 certificate are obliged to completing upgrade training to continue working as trainers and assessors in the industry.
Those who hold certifications in either TAA40104 or BSZ40198 will need to take the full TAE40116 course, as both courses have been superseded. In the case of the TAA40104 and BSZ40198 courses, their certificate holders cannot upgrade, as their course material do not contain any of the units included in the TAE40116.
