The Vocational Education and Training sector, also known as the VET sector, offers several paths for those looking into a career in the industry. People from all walks of life may rise to great heights through the VET sector, which is why various states empower Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to deliver the necessary training that develops much-needed skills within the industry.
One such training is the TAE40116, which is better known as the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. The TAE40116 educates its students on assessment skills intended to aid them in their work as trainers and assessors. Because of the comprehensive scope of the training course, the TAE40116 is often in high demand – and with high demand comes frequently asked questions.
Below are a few common questions about the Certificate IV course training, and their corresponding answers.
How long does the course take?
The ideal course completion period for most RTOs is six months, starting from the date of enrolment or start of course training. However, instances such as personal commitments and unforeseen circumstances can’t be avoided – RTOs account for these situations by allotting each student a schedule of twelve months to complete their training. This means that each student has a full year to complete the course.
On the other hand, this more extended period also means that if a student doesn’t complete their coursework by the end of the twelve months, they may need to re-enrol and take the course anew. Because of this, it’s best-advised that students complete their assigned work materials sooner rather than later, to ensure that their course assessment is given due attention.
How are the courses delivered?
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course is delivered through a blend of face-to-face classes and online correspondence. For this reason, the ideal set-up for any student is to enrol at an easily accessible RTO, as well as have access to a laptop or desktop computer and stable internet connection.
To be clear about the last point, it’s not necessary that the course student owns a laptop or desktop computer; merely having access to a functioning one will do. The same goes for stable internet access; using public connections such as in public libraries is perfectly acceptable. The crucial point is that the student has a workstation on which to complete their coursework and communicate with their trainers.
Can I update from the TAE40110 to the TAE40116?
This is a common problem for trainers and assessors who trained under different assessment courses before the TAE40116 was implemented as the standard training for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. The answer to this enquiry is a resounding yes – for a limited time.
To clarify: trainers and assessors who are currently working in the VET sector under the TAE40110 certification had until July 1st, 2019, to upgrade their training to the TAE40116 standard if they wish to continue working. Once this deadline has passed, they must cease working temporarily and complete the upgrade course before they can continue.
These are some of the basics with the TAE40116. For more information, don’t hesitate to contact your nearest RTO.
